Strolling Along…

It is official. 2015 is not one of the years that I would credit as my best. Good thing is that it can only get better :)

Anyhoo, in line with the whole tumultous emotional ride of late and the need to do something for myself…I went for a stroll today.

Not a walk or a jog or even an idle. And there is a difference.

A walk is most often times a thing of purpose with a fairly well defined point of coming and going. A jog is most definately a structured means of movement and the idle is on par with the dwadle; most often seen in action by pre pubsecent teenagers when on holiday with the parents.

And then there’s the stroll. The stroll is a magnificent exercise in leisurely movement enhanced by the sounds sights and smells that surround you. A stroll gives one the time to savour and appreciate their enviroment. To admire the paper thin peeling of the tree bark,

to notice the sanded footpaths are barely footprinted and to laugh with the little girl playing “Cry Wolf” with her daddy. Without knowing it, the senses become alert and the mind opens. Nature beams when you are on a stroll. A stroll eclipses the mundane and fires the imagination. Life feels magical and full of wonderful possibilities. A stroll reminds that life is great.

So what do you think? Do you prefer the sweat and exertion of the jog? The walk that feels like you are exercising? The dwadle? Or like me this morning, the relaxing stroll? I’d love to know!

Till next time.
