Does anyone get time for breakfast anymore? Yet alone time to set a pretty inviting table???
In our multi-tasking speed paced society I fear that the art of breaking the fast on awakening is rapidly becoming, (or in fact may have already become) redundant…a thing of the past…and the cheerful brekky table with the OJ served in a wine glass, gone along with it.
I grew up with a whole room called the Breakfast Room though its use for such a purpose was long gone before my time. However, I always imagined what it must have been like for my ancestors to descend to a table laden with the ‘breakfast’ silver, crystal and linen serviettes. In my imagination there was also a hand-picked floral arrangement as the centrepiece adornment, always gathered in the early morn from the extensive garden we were lucky enough to enjoy. It must have been very romantic to start the day that way
Anyhoo, as part of the Festival (not sure which one!) I attended a Breakfast party yesterday and was so inspired by sitting around a divinely decorated table at 8.00AM, I had to share all things bright, beautiful and breaking of the bread
Till next time.
