Alright! I admit it. I am having an affair 
With the season
I am having a hot and steamy (literally!) dalliance with all things…well…hot and steamy
In the mountains of Vermont, summer is in full bloom and I have passionately hurled myself (with loads of drama) into the sweltering sweet romance of the moment. I am throwing caution…and work …to the wind (actually, better make that negligible breeze at best) enjoying long lazy walks through knee-high fields blooming with colourful wildflowers, tranquil afternoons canoeing the mill-pond waters of the local lake (thanks to AM for the intro to this excellent sport!) and sashaying around in sundress, sunhat and sunnies! (Sunset horse-rides through the valley is next on my list )
Anyhoo, this season is also one of the most inspirational for many, mostly creative, sorts. The great outdoors is filled with artists propped by their easel and writers nestled under the shade of a tree with laptop on their knee. Photographers are everywhere…and, just an aside, I sometimes wonder what it must be like to view the world forever through a lens? I mean, aren’t they missing out from seeing it up close and personal and in real time, real life??? Mmm, thinking…thinking… I first wondered this when on safari in South Africa (absolutely fab resort but more on that later) with a bird loving couple. An admirable hobby to be sure, however, the wife of this twosome spent the entire (and yes, that does need to be bold!) time peering through the camera. She missed seeing the giraffe, elephants, even lions with her own eye. The whole experience was through a gadget glued to her face! Ooo, and another aside, would simply H A T E to think what kind of a mess this did to her lashes
Tinerate, because of the many opportunities for alfresco dining, this season is also rife with wonderfully creative outdoor tablescapes…

to having the whole cosmopolitan crew over…
to fun time casual…
and everything in between
The longest day is now long gone and the shadows are sneaking in on my summer fling. But while I still can, I plan to take my morning tea on the deck and continue to love sneezing at the intoxicating aroma of fresh cut lawn…Ah yes, the mowing of the lawn; just the years old tried-and-tested beloved traditional chore that is the stalwart of the season and is now a bit of a weekend obsession with the North American Suburban Dad
