Pure & Simple

00-holding-grace-kelly-birthdayHullo, new week :)

I cannot believe we are back to the beginning of the week already! I mean, like where does the time just whiz to? And did it fly by so quickly that I missed something? Ooo, total travesty-thought…certainly hope not but if so, big-time apologies :)

Anyhoo, I have been all over the place in the last few days and been privy to some wonderful tables that were just too glorious not to share!

I’m a big believer in undone glamour and the simple purity and elegance that this evokes. You know, the whole less is more school of thought that prevailed before the excess of the 80’s kicked in, gained momentum and completely took over :)

Anyhoo, today I’m on the coast so my complete style crush right now is all things sea and sand, even in the midst of this arctic brr.

I love the use of driftwood and shells for a beach table. Well, actually I could most probably use driftwood almost anywhere…garden…mantlepiece. My friend JR is an artist and consequently has a fabulous eye which enables her to use wonderful pieces of nature (usually local finds on her morning walks) really elegantly in all sorts of fascinating and surprising environs…

I have always found the architectural shapes of wood and the colours of shells to be so completely stunning that often they are statement enough. Add any more and it is almost overload!

However, if just completely unable to resist temptation to ‘pop on this,’ an excellent inclusion would be the plump cactus, (that is seen at almost every turn in this sea sprayed clime) and a length of rope.

Or, to really mix it up… add a cactus in bloom! The colour of flowers now opens up a whole new dimension. Do we let the floral stand alone or add accompaniment colour in the napkins, glasses or even the china? And if going with more colour, do we keep to monochromatic – say just purple and green – or add the brown of the wood as well? And then there is white of the shells? I know…already soo many colours and options to play with! Just makes your head spin doesn’t it? :)

Tinerate, would love to know your thoughts on Spectacular Seasidescapes…

Till next time.
