Dreams with Kisses!

Dear Lovebirds, Tonight is a twinkling star kiss. Caress the sparkle! ✨✨✨

The cloudless night sky cast not a shadow across the milky white stillness of the moonlit ocean; the inky blackness of the bushland hugging its rocky shores in stark moody contrast. It was New Years Eve so despite the tranquil surrounds, there was a festive buzz in the air, a carefree time for celebrations and more importantly for any stockman worth blood on his Akubra, the breaking dawn hours when legends are made (or at the very least, enhanced :) ) To be sure, an evening of one of the biggest parties in the seaside port of Robe and I was there to embrace it all.

Staggering home through ‘the forest’ after probably the most memorable night of my life, clutching the hand of an adorable blonde giggling at my side, I wondered about the magic of this ocean town. How could this have happened? How did just a few drinks, lost keys and wallet :) find me my soul mate? … 💖💖💖

The romance fairy has most certainly been knocking on several doors of late. I don’t know if there is something in my neck of the woods at the moment (or maybe it’s in the air tonight :) ) but a good chunk of the populace seems to be all loved up and no less than three of the kids have tied the knot in the last few months. I know! Actually very exciting to witness all the lovey dovey dreamy swooning that is going on with the next-gen mob and totally amazing that it is happening so fast! I mean, wedlock literally has them dropping like flies caught in an old fashioned butcher’s electronic zapper (remember those?)

This past weekend we hit the country for the nuptials of K&K at the family property nestled on Lake Alexandrina. And what with the centrepiece attraction of the ancestral accommodation surrounded by rolling gardens it was the idyllic picture postcard setting to be sure and completely brilliant imagination-fostering of the gallant knight charging over the meadows (well, okay, paddocks!) on his Ag-bike, bearing down to swoop up the love of his life and carry her home to the castle that awaits (alright, homestead but big enough to almost be a kingdom :) )

Anyhoo, in the twilight hours of the afternoon, with the sun slowly dipping into the glasslike water backdrop, guests gathered around the front verandah for the marital ceremony. The boys, all seven of them (six groomsmen and of course the groom) very dapper in their black tie, lapel flower and RM Williams boots were a constant wave of excited giggling motion, soo happy whilst waiting for the arrival of the bride who, gracing us with her presence fashionably late, and dressed in her divine fitted satin gown with a contoured waist and pretty A-line skirt, looked every part the princess that the fairy book story required. (Just an aside, special thanks to cousin, RR, for bringing me up to speed on the material :) )

Canapés were in the front garden which was gorgeous but, and I’m sorry, but I’m always absolutely honest, just sooo freezing! Had it been yesterday, apparently, it was completely calm with a clear sky: ideal for pre-party drinks and wedding photos. Our day, um, not quite so cooperative (in fact, chilly enough to bring the fur out for most :) ) but still divine location with all the glorious trimmings.

IMG_7538In my hot-to-trot little Halston-Heritage number (thank you Saks!) I could bear only so much in the wind off the lake and ventured down to the oasis that was to be the reception. One hundred year old cobwebs had been cleaned from this space to transform it into an absolutely stunning shearing-shed-chic-glamourdome. Above us fairy lights twinkled like stars. The century plus old beams glowed with renewed life and the cleaned and polished stonework radiated an energy that is in the mystery of the beauty of a natural element (aspiring geologist JBKC could explain that one a whole lot more eloquently than me!)

Anyhoo, talk about ‘love love love, happy ever after!’  Yes, an absolutely beautiful wedding in an even more stunning location. And, KBJC, as per SH’s wise words, remember to whisper to your new wife, KG, each night those three little words: ‘You Are Right!’ :)

Thanks next-gen Mr & Mrs C for including us in your very special day. So glad ‘persistence beats resistance’ 💞💞💞

Till next time.
