Sushi Training!

I was sitting at dinner with AP last night, stabbing (such a whiz with the chopsticks :) ) at little plate loads of sushi as they trundled past me on the model steam engine that was our server, when I had an absolute brain wave! How about a sushi train Dinner Party? But don’t do it with a conveyor belt; actually have a real model caboose with real tracks, real carriages and maybe even … for that element of ‘Ooo, here it comes’ surprise :) … a real tunnel! Brilliant, right!

It’s fun. It’s different. And (here’s the biggie) I don’t know of anyone that’s ever done a sushi train dinner which makes it … Ta Daa … unique! Big applause for the last point as that is virtually impossible to come by these days. Oh wait, moment of total disclosure … Growing up, my dad had what was most probably the predecessor of the sushi train (mainly suggesting this as there were hardly any Japanese here when he was a kid and the whole notion of a sushi train just didn’t exist in rural South Australia culture!) But back to point, in my father’s youth, at Christmas time, there would be set up around the dining room table a little steam train that chooffed the circumference of the round table, offering up chocolates, cherries and Christmas cheer. Fab idea right!

Tinerate, watching my dinner choo choo (I’ve become a train :) ) its way towards me it struck me that it could work as a great novelty DP idea. Keep it casual. Keep it fun. And keep it simple!

Not only is this an amazingly clever idea but it is also brilliant in that there is absolutely no slaving over a hot stove involved. That’s right! Zilch. Instead, all that need be done is a quick run to the local Blossom sushi store and … Voila! … dinner to die for. I may have already talked about how I have a mini melt down once more than one burner on the stovetop comes into play so this kind of a party is sooo up my alley. And I could even go all out and get Strawberry Amazake Pudding (completely d-e-l-i-c-i-o-u-s) for desert. I know! A regular feast in the making :)

Anyhoo, I can’t help but think this really does have all the hallmarkings of success don’t you think?

Till next time.

Tipsy Pipsy xo
