There has been a subtle changing of the guard …
… gone are the expectations of the old school and the new kids in town are calling the shots, forging ahead and sending the design world into a spin of what’s hot and what’s not!
The old elegant has been tossed aside and the new generation of young adults have chosen their own updated refinements.
Luxury is still, well, luxurious, but it is luxury with a twist and this movement is becoming very evident in dining accents.
Long gone is the intricately patterned silver cutlery. In its place is the imposing flatware formed from a hammer beating into a bar of silver for hours on an anvil (Farrahsit.com)
When it’s time for tea, taking the stage it is often the Fluidite for Puiforcat Collection (Puiforcat.com)
This clever collection consists of an indulgent ‘rose-gold sugar bowl and ebony accented coffee and tea pots.’ Definitely tres luxe with the added bonus of coordination with one’s on trend jewellery 
And it seems that even the wine carafe and humble water server have been elevated to represent a piece of modern art…
But I have to say, there was one element that surprised me … the gorgeous hand-painted teacups and saucer preferred by the new tastemakers are almost a throwback to an earlier time in design, if not the palette. Absolutely loving these little numbers by Jardins d’Udaipur.
Tinerate, probably the most universal and definitely one of the most popular trends among the new influencers of elegance would have to be the monogram. Monogrammed pillows to be exact!
The Italian company, Frette, is behind the pretty initialed pillows at Claridges in London and word has hit the street with everyone wanting them for their own. Mm, AP and I were given some about eight years ago when we spent a few days at the Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills and I have to admit that they are – still – very inviting …
Anyhoo, perusing this little lot, I think it’s safe to say I am having a bit of a style crush on the new elegance … what about you?
