Luxury.

What is it really? A sight…A sound…A touch…Maybe a sensation or even an experience???

Merriam Webster dictionary defines it simply…

To so many people that little six lettered word means so many different things and conjures up so many indescribable emotions. All of which are feel good and completely unique to one.

Out of curiosity I decided to google the word with these image results…

Luxury lifestyle maybe, but surely not the only and maybe not the real essence of luxury?

Anyhoo, it is widely accepted that luxury means comfort. Heavenly fluffy float-away indulgent comfort. And normally a price tag of extreme involved along with it (but then one does pay for what one gets )

Fascinating though how it can have such polar meanings to different souls. I mean, one persons luxury is another chaps ho-hum.

Chatting with my gorgeous beauty technician SD the other day (yes, admittedly while I was indulging in my own idea of luxury: the massage ) and conversation soon turned to her interpretation of it. Time was her number one luxurious pleasure, followed by cranking up the heat without worry of expense (you can tell I’m in Australia with that kind of comment ), a slab of smoked salmon with a lovely wine and high thread Egyptian cotton sheets to collapse in to at days end.

And then, on the other hand, JM, SD’s partner, is adamant that the St Regis in NYC (where he apparently stays quite often…la dee da!) is luxury personified. Having not got any further than the King Cole bar I am unable to testify on that however I am not doubting his judgement and it did pop up as luxury New York hotel accommodation on a recent search. And I do have to admit that it looks extremely swish

Tinerate, what’s your idea of luxury? Possibly an over-lagoon villa in Bora Bora, lear jet commuting, powder snow skiing, candlelit soaking baths or a deep cleansing facial. Do tell
