Buzziest Birthdays!

There are a couple of BIG birthdays that have been brewing this week and, it turns out, there both nearly as explosive as each other!

The obvious celebration and the one on everyones lips, July 4th, USA Independence Day. The huge nationwide fireworks and hotdogs party to celebrate breaking free of the British and forming their own nation. It’s all about friends, family, the outdoor grill and copious servings of red, white and blue with a ton of patriotism on the side.

It is a very heart-warming time to be in the States and really wonderful to see how proud the Americans are of their country. (Just an aside, some of the patriotic values could well be a lesson around the world. Hmm, merely a thought :)  )

Anyhoo, I celebrated July 4th by the Charles River in Boston, watching the Pops (little brother of the Boston Symphony Orchestra) playing all sorts of Yankee Doodle Dandy and Stars and Stripes Forever that had the crowd up and booging down. Amazing fun :) …which gets me to the other note-worthy festivity going on. My niece, RT’s, 30th Birthday Tour!!!

You see, one of RT’s bucket list goals is to visit 30 countries in 30 years and with nigh time left, she decided that she wanted the milestone birthday to be spent in a place in keeping with the big bang of the occasion. In a country with a lot of jollity; in a city that was rockets-red-glare, and, of course, it had to be a place she had not been.

Hullo USA!!! Nothing like riding on the tailcoats of a party already in full swing but, why not? Absolutely brilliantly orchestrated manoeuvre by RT for a birthday memory to be cherished by us all.

Happy Birthday RT.

Till next time.
