The White Stuff!

If you have been reading my posts, you would be aware that I am spending a few superbly divine weeks on the side of a mountain in the gloriously magical winter wonderland that is a snowed (if not in!) definitely over Vermont!

As the proverbial blanket of frosting (or icing when Down Under :) ) that is often quipped about when describing such scenery, (admittedly, usually in travel mags and the more generic read) the landscape is a beautiful mass of crystal ice white snow that glistens and sparkles in the afternoon sun…

In fact, absolutely the kind of backdrop that would be written up in a romance novel; most probably something in tune with the lines …

…he cradled her face in his hands and gently turned her lips to his, the snow falling softly around them turning their street into a magical fairyland world perfect for a first kiss…

(I know! Simply can’t help myself when it comes to a bit of Mills & Boon swoon and tragedy :) )

Anyhoo, the pristine magic of my snowy world has me pining for the accompanying warmth of an open fire and hearty meal served on a pretty platter; especially so after an exhilarating day on the slopes. (I haven’t told you about my prowess on skis yet have I? Ooo, quite an adventure just getting on the chair lift let alone off! I mean, the way that thing thunders in to the back of the leg its a wonder there aren’t more broken bones! Oy Vey … no biggie though, I made it up and down and all in one piece. In fact I’m even beginning to fancy myself as a bit of an old hand on Easy Mile at Suicide Six in Woodstock (And, just and aside, the name of the mountain is a lot scarier than the actual trail :) )

So in keeping with nurturing of creature comforts (warmth, food, wine :) ) I sailed into the Lodge at the base of the mountain where I was greeted with old fashioned ski diner charm…

…and with all the cosiness of the surrounding winter white, the romance to feed my Nordic nourish .

Till next time.
