Patio Picnic!

Alright! I take it all back :)

Despite what I said on Tuesday, I seem to have spent most evenings this week dining on the deck! Well, if not the deck, the verandah, patio or in the courtyard.

It turns out that once dusk sets, to be in the outdoors in this balmy breathless weather is the choice of preference, especially now that the wisp of Winter is just around the corner…

And, so I am told by LS, is the hint of buds and Spring in the north…

But I digress…

The romance of dining outside extends in to the warm and fuzzy depths of most of us – even those rugged rural blokes starring in Farmer Wants A Wife  :)  – so it really doesn’t matter how grand, casual or grandly casual the tablescape set. Let’s face it, not even a squillion fairy lights can beat the natural wonder of the stars.

I also am going to be bold enough to declare that it’s impossible to go wrong with a candle lit table beneath the gum trees, a silvery moon shining through leaves rustling gently in the slight breeze of the cooling night and the shadows created by it all.

A few  strategically placed lights around the garden and … divine! … there’s a tablecscape to rival anything found in a top design mag!

Anyhoo, what I am also really loving about eating outside is that the whole gauntlet of themes can be used, and all very effectively.

Feel like a bit of French rococo and gilt???

If that’s all too fussy and formal, why not a seaside beach bonfire, sans table???

Or a bit of shabby chic??? And of course, European savor faire always works a treat…

Tinerate, when in doubt…don’t doubt :)

Till next time.
