Selecting the Space…

There is sooo much more to a table that truly pops than just the decorations.

Although that is a major major component, I am learning that the placement of the dining piece is of utmost importance and worthy of consideration and deliberation.

And, consequently, its own little ole post :)

I hadn’t actually thought about this a whole lot, always figuring that the table just gets plonked where it fits or, if fortunate enough to have the space, (so I am not talking about my itsy bitsy New York apartment :) ) where it looks best using what one has. But on an interior design escapade with friend SC who is revamping her Cape Cod beach house, I (actually, make that we…It’s scary how similar SC and I are and a complete wonder how we manage to muddle through, let alone stay focused – especially together! Guess that’s why we are such great mates. But I digress…) learned something, albeit, only when it was pointed out. That being that people will build their whole dining experience (I also learnt some designer speak :) ) around the humble table! I guess in these cases it’s the not-so-modest dinner furniture. Mmm, thinking…thinking…Regardless, with this kind of talk it was also pretty evident we were in the very happening Soho district!

Anyhoo, being of the ilk that is inclined to use what one is gifted, inherits or has left over from student days (I know, horrendously ikey but not nearly as bad as my sister RT :) ) I am completely taken by this extravagent concept and wanted to share…(apparently all these spaces were designed for the ‘dining experience!’)

…And these dazzling contemporary creations where it is enviably evident that the appropriate space is a custom fit build…

…And I am almost certain this cottage scene was not made-to-order but it is such a perfect fit that it might as well have been :)

But my absolute favourite – today – for a one-of-a-kind custom setting dining experience would have to be this olive farm tablescape, right down to the tree trunk stool seats (all of which, BTW, I am pretending they had in mind before planting the evergreens :) )

Okey dokey, maybe a bit of a stretch…

Tinerate, don’t you think this brings a whole new dimension to shopping for a table???

Till next time.
