The weather these past few days has been creating all sorts of totally un-spring-like havoc, so much so that my friend, LR, casually announced that “it was a jungle out there,’ when she blew into (literally) the Hula Hoop to meet me for a wine tasting of some really fabulous South African wines.
And I have to agree, this windy, rainy four seasons in one day is beginning to grow tiresome. I mean, I do understand that Spring is a transitional time with the crossover of season from cold to hot known for a bit of moisture (after all, April Showers bring May Flowers, or, in my instance being in the southern hemisphere, September rain makes for a floral terrain ) but this soaking torrential sideways stuff is getting old (unless of course beside the ocean with views of raging swells ) And where is the sun???
Okay, so it’s not cold but it’s certainly not Spring yet!
So right now it is supposed to be light balmy ‘love is in the air’ inspired dreamy sun-kissed days, with all sorts of Spellbinding Spring and Spring Awakenings
The energy of the Spring season is all about new life and fresh beginnings. The leaves are growing back on trees and the days are getting longer.
In a nutshell, a brand-new start!
Tinerate, for some, the first sign of Spring isn’t tiny buds growing on trees or fragrant bursts of blossom at every turn – its balmy temps that allow legs to be bare in the breeze. But the only thing that I’m warming to right now is that we have gone on to daylight saving! And yes, I am fully aware that the whole clock change concept is not unanimously popular and that many would rather we stay in just the one time the year through. But to me it is a warm up to the swelter of summer. It gets me in the mood of all things bright and carefree without the surprise..
Anyhoo, my friends comment struck a chord and I was inspired to delve into the whole prospect of tablescapes that played with jungle fever.
Now I am not thinking of jungle in the whole traditional Tarzan & Jane way, (although theres a thought! A whole blog on bamboo table and bone cutlery ) but rather using some of the vibrant colour of the tangled wooded forest.
What about a purple tablecloth, with a combination of green and yellow placemats, and crystal that alternated for each setting??? (It is the jungle so it needs a bit of riot )
Or just a leafy mass of green that mimics the canopy of the trees that inhabit the deep dark undergrowth???
And, just because I simply can’t help myself…retro jungle dining
Till next time,
Tipsy Pipsy xo
