Clique to Carnival!

I’ve flitted over the border for a few days and with the help of friends JO and EC, have quickly become immersed in all things Spring racing!

Oh … okay … more specifically, Spring Racing Carnival. You know, (well actually, you might not know … Mm … doesn’t matter … ) you know, Derby Day, Oaks Day and the biggie, Melbourne Cup. Quite honestly, no-one seems much interested in anything else going on bar the big three.

And if I am really bringing it all down to brass tacks, the events that holds the clique attention is the Melbourne Cup; after all, it is, ‘the race that stops a nation.’ :)

Anyhoo, the exciting buzz around Melbourne has me all enthused to share a few table design ideas for the big occasion (never too early!) and who knows, I might even inspire myself to host a Cup party (now that would be a first! Probably won’t happen though as the kitchen is not my forte and without complete Master Chef, AP, I tell you now, it would be a memorable d-i-s-a-s-t-e-r. :) )

Back on track :) … So there is always the reliable horse and field event table. This little number most often pops up trackside, usually in the Member’s stand, however prancing horses have been know to canter from the field and into homes at times.

Then there is the looong green look. This tablescape trimmed with all things Spring is at home in the Corporate marquee and looks a treat when finished with daffodils (nothing shouts warm weather more than some feel-good yellow blooms to bring home the season.)

But there is also nothing to stop a more traditional take for the tablescapes. Polish up the silver, add a sparkle with the crystal and … Ta Daaa … it could easily be a Manor home or to the mansion born (even!) :)

Of course if this is all a bit too frou frou, why not consider something at the other end of the decorating spectrum … and in Vogue (s-t-i-l-l :) ) … a simple rustic table.

Stunning don’t you think even if I can’t help but think that the centrepiece needs a run over with the lawn mower :)

Tinerate, here’s cheers (a Veuve Clicquot clink if you please :) ) to whatever decor finds you on race day.

Till next time.
