It’s all about the glamour today. And trust me, there is a valid reason
I could blame New York City for the infatuation; its seductively wicked ways intoxicatingly tempting to all things glamourous.
The glamour vibe positively oozes from the City’s core and sweeps you into the Sex & City dream…I mean, can’t we all wear fabulous frocks and six inch high Jimmy Choo heels to sashay the cobblestone streets of SoHo
Just driving down the West Side Highway and under the magnificent GW Bridge with private jets whizzing overhead and luxury yachts moored in the Hudson is enough to stir thoughts in ‘all things glam.’ The infatuation grows as the bright lights of Manhattan flit by you in a sparkling blur and soon it’s all cosmopolitan bewitchment of downtown 5th Avenue…and, suddenly, without warning, your just giddy with glamour
Aah, so that be the siren call of the city filled with dreams, endless possibilities and true grit!
Anyhoo, so none of that is why I am banging on about glamour. Quite simply, (confession time ) I have had the song Glamorous buzzing around in my brain for a few days now… (cut me some slack; I did work in music for a long time!) Tinerate…you know, the one by Fergie where she is jetting around in her own Gulf Stream, dressed in ridiculous amounts of sequins and bling. Maybe fur too…Mmm, not sure about that one…
Well, I have decided to do my own fashion of glamour jetting, however I won’t be checking in to any flight and crossing any continents (or countries for that matter!) instead, just passing through several states (of mind) and many places from all sorts of wonderful corners that I have been wanting to share.
I have been in love with this tablescape since I first flipped across it in Veranda magazine back in 2013. Wedgwood green china gives weight to the pastel pink wine stems, while fuchsia napkins highlight the same accent colour used in the few flowers strewn in gilded gold vases across the table so beautifully perched by the edge of an affinity pool. Grounded by tones of grey, it makes for wanting to dive right in.
Ah yes, the epitome of elegance…sigh
It’s the kind of spectacular setting that calls for one to simply have to live like Auntie Mame and serve her favourite breakfast…black coffee and a Side Car
Till next time.
