Moss & Mustard

One of the coolest gamines of the psychedelic, happening 60’s would have to be Peggy Lipton. The doe-eyed actress was the hard hitting beautiful cop on the cult show, The Mod Squad which began airing in the latter part of that decade.

She set trends in scruffy hippie garb from her show the world over but wore the ‘sweet’ velour (I know!!!! Never thought I would write that word ever again :) ) jeans and lacy Edwardian top as no other. Closest comparison might have to be Laurie Partridge but she was a lot more clean cut I think. Mmm, thinking…thinking…AP, can you help me out here please :)

Anyhoo, much the same as Tuesday’s wardrobe-influenced  post, I am taking her spirited daisy and dare mood and applying it to a woodland field winter table. And, just an aside, I think I am currently obsessed with fashion inspires because cold-weather clothes were just hitting the stores when I left the States and I get to Australia to find it is totally arctic enough to wear the new looks. Ooo, can’t believe what a trendster I can sometimes be…most often by default but, nonetheless… :)

Now moss and mustard is a colour combination that is not for the meek. Noo way José :) This bold duo politely stands up and asks for attention and, deservingly so, gets it! But what I am really loving about the coupling is the dewy wintery vibe my focus colours emit, making one reminiscent of wooded green forests and wattle mustard flowers. Anyhoo…

…back to creating :) The tablecloth for this would have to be a damask soft gold.

gold-accents-easter-tableThe wine stems a mossy green…Villeroy & Boch often stock a spectrum of colours all year round. Keep the napkin and placemats in the same family of green as the glasses but add some dash by placing a three (always work in odds :) ) stemmed daisy bouquet, tied together with a name tag in the same hue as the tablecloth, in the centre of the placemat.

I would most probably do an all green and and leafy centrepiece with this; just making sure not to use tropical and most definitely not pines as, after all, it’s not a Christmas table! :) Ooo, but then again, maybe it could be??? :)

Tinerate…now that I am totally fruzzed out…time to slip into my Uggs and curl up beside the fire :)

Till next time.
