Missing Mooloolaba!

we love to relax on the sand

swim in the waves

and be free in the salty air

when the sun goes down

we never want to leave

but a little part of us remains behind

our footprints on the beach

I am finding it is a very different way of life up here in the Sunshine state. Up at 5.00am because one wants to be up that early. Out for a walk/run/yoga class followed by a swim/paddleboard/surf because it feels good and at the end of all that it is still only 7.00am, leaving plenty of time for leisurely coffee at the Surf Club before heading to the office around 9am.

(Having said all this, on the flip side, recognising that come 8.00pm, the sidewalks are rolled up and everyone has gone to bed :) )

Anyhoo, back to the now…I guess the operative word is …relax and I’m buying in. Buying in but still getting it done :)

But more than that…everyone is doing it because they want to do it. Everyone is here because they want to be here. Take the ladies in the retail stores; all very friendly and soo chatty. And yes, most of them are expats from another state (and even country), but even so, in complete contrast to what is most often experienced.

Then there is all the waitstaff working in the restaurants. I lost count of the accents but I do remember talking with a American, British, Canadian and someone from the Galapagos Islands. All, admittedly, young but here because they want to be and l-o-v-i-n-g it! The young Yank had even just taken out her Aussie citizenship and was planning on buying a house. Go Girl :)

Tinerate, in this part of the world, what is there not to love?

There is the beach…How’s about lolling around on a sun lounge and catching some rays? or take that dip in the ocean and catch a few waves…

…maybe a java after after a kayak…a leisurely stroll or a well earned snooze with a book (one of my favourites :) )…

…And then, of course, at the end of the day, the other pleasures of the beautiful surrounds are to be enjoyed…restaurants, seaside bars…

And then there’s the view :)

It’s only been a few hours since I flew out but already I am missing Mooloolaba!

Till next time.
