Gold Shadow

It is that time of year when a gold dusting seems to have fallen over the sun and the days are filtered with amber shadow. Beneath our feet, the leaves have browned and fallen to the ground in a scattered carpet. The evening skies bid goodnight in a flourish of soft oranges and yellows. It’s the wonderful time of the year when we turn up the heat and snuggle up inside. Yes, it’s Autumn! Winter!!!

One thing I love about a tablescape at this time of year is the warmth it can bring in comparison to the moist cold and how it often helps combat the chill. One glance at an inviting table and it is impossible not to feel a cosy comfort wash over you. Well, it does me at least!

Take a slip of tablecloth, add sparkle with embellished gold serviettes and spray iridescent powder over the centrepiece greenery. Instant FABULOUSNESS :)

Or leave it with a raw simplicity. Love the idea of in-season limes with a single stem/branch on these tables which, quite honestly with the backdrop they have (courtesy marvellous Mother Nature), would be overdone if complemented with anything more. To me, with the reflections the way they are, this ice blue setting evokes snugness and not the Brr one might expect.

Anyhoo, these days, often the traditional gold and browns of the season are swapped out for the brighter bolds usually associated with other times of the year, and most often with stunning results. Take an outdoor wooden table, adorn it with colourful plates and use the mighty Murray as a back drop (a nod to Mrs Natural again please), and … VOILA … this table has all the comfort impact needed to warm the cockles don’t you think?

Till next time.
