So while, for the majority, the champagne flowed, whistles squealed and unrivalled killer moves monopolised the dance floor there were the grown ups amongst us who had the good sense to ring in the new year in the high styling tradition of sophistication.

Yes! That would most probably mean a superbly adorned table complete with sobriety and absolutely-under-no-circumstances any fixing of the world problems! (Cos as we all know, after a couple of bubblies aren’t we all completely convinced we have the solution to solve everything??? I certainly have a few friends who profess to being able to sort things out ) Or maybe not…who says styling and sophistication equates to tea-totalling sensibility I’m betting some of the cleverest and most intuitive ideas about, well, a-n-y-t-h-i-n-g, come from ‘chillin’ times. Take Warhol for instance…my odds are confidently placed on there not being much, if any, abstaining going on whilst Andy was creating

Anyhoo, so while the fireworks were lighting up our worlds and the confetti fluttering at our faces, some of us were nestled in to an ambience of polished cosy comfort with a delightful cultured feel.

Drag out the LBD, maybe the silk number? Of course! Is the stiletto too much? No! Never! Can I wear pearls and diamonds all at once? Yes! Yes! and Qui Madame! And of course, the always in style tux for the males, or maybe…just maybe…a smoking jacket for the straight-out-of-a-Brooks-Brothers-catalogue-salt-and-pepper-haired gentleman. Mmm, very dapper if worn with aplomb

Tinerate, whether it was high styling it into 2017 with a magical dinner under the African stars or…however…the ticking over to the new year was celebrated, we are all here now with all sorts of dreams and responsibilities to chase and absorb us in our every day…
